Hypersonic Kinzhal Among Intercepted Missiles

Ukraine’s air force confirmed that one of the intercepted missiles was the advanced hypersonic Kinzhal, known for its speed and precision. Debris from the downed missiles caused damage to three private buildings and two vehicles in Kyiv, according to the city’s military administration.

Sumy Region Hit By Missile Barrage

In the Sumy region, Russia launched 13 missiles on the town of Shostka, causing extensive damage. Local authorities reported destruction across 12 high-rise residential buildings, two educational institutions, three boiler houses, and a clinic. Key infrastructure in the region also suffered significant damage.

Additional Drone Attacks Reported

Alongside the missile strikes, Moscow deployed 40 drones in an attempt to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defences. Sixteen drones were shot down, while 24 failed to reach their intended targets, according to Ukraine’s air force.

Russia Claims Military Success

On Telegram, Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed responsibility for the strikes, stating that it had targeted a military airfield infrastructure and gunpowder production facility. The ministry asserted that all targets were successfully hit. Independent verification of these claims remains unavailable.

This attack highlights ongoing tensions and the extensive use of advanced weaponry in the conflict. As both sides exchange strikes, Ukraine’s air defences continue to play a critical role in mitigating the impact of Russia’s offensives.
