Hamas leader Abd al-Hadi Sabah was killed in an Israeli airstrike, marking a critical development in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Sabah, the head of Hamas’ Nukhba platoon in the West Khan Younis Battalion, was targeted in an intelligence-based strike carried out in a humanitarian zone in Khan Younis, as confirmed by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).
“Abd al-Hadi Sabah—who operated from a shelter in the Humanitarian Area in Khan Yunis—was one of the leaders of the infiltration into Kibbutz Nir Oz during the murderous October 7 Massacre,” said the IDF in a post on X. Sabah also played a pivotal role in orchestrating multiple terrorist attacks against IDF troops during the ongoing conflict.
Role In The Kibbutz Nir Oz Attack
The October 7 attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz was one of the most devastating events of the conflict. Located near the Gaza border fence, the kibbutz witnessed the brutal killing of 38 residents and the abduction of 75 others. Survivors were later relocated to temporary housing in Kiryat Gat.
Hamas employed a calculated strategy, burning 250 cars to prevent residents from escaping. The IDF identified Sabah as the mastermind behind this operation, which has since drawn widespread international condemnation.
Additional Strikes On Hamas Leadership
Alongside Sabah, Israeli forces also killed Anas Muhammad Masri, the commander of Hamas’ northern rocket unit. According to the IDF, Masri had been instrumental in directing rocket fire from northern Gaza into Israel and was heavily involved in numerous operations targeting Israeli civilians and troops.
The deaths of Sabah and Masri underscore the continued targeting of high-ranking Hamas figures by Israeli forces, as the conflict shows no signs of abating.
This development highlights the critical role of intelligence and targeted operations in the broader context of the Israel-Hamas war, which has drawn global attention for its humanitarian and geopolitical implications.
