Rajesh Deo, the deputy commissioner of police (south-east), provided details of the incident, explaining that it transpired around 4:40 pm near Masih Garh Chowk in the vicinity of New Friends Colony. An orange-colored cluster bus, operating on route number 534, collided with multiple vehicles at the Sarai Julena traffic signal. The bus, carrying passengers from Nehru Place en route to Anand Vihar via Modi Mills, allegedly struck a scooter, a car, and an auto-rickshaw that were stationary at the signal, resulting in injuries to five individuals.

The injured victims, identified as Mohammad Saghir, Sajadul Islam, Mohammad Kalimuddin, and Mohammad Tahsin, were promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, one of the injured individuals, who remains unidentified, succumbed to their injuries. The deceased was riding a scooter with several bundles of sarees on the pillion seat. Saghir’s injuries were so severe that his left leg had to be amputated, while the others sustained minor injuries.

Fortunately, the passengers aboard the bus managed to escape unharmed. The driver of the bus, however, fled the scene, leading to ongoing efforts to locate the absconding driver. The exact cause of the crash can only be determined following a thorough mechanical examination of the bus. Authorities are currently reviewing footage from the CCTV cameras installed in and around the accident site to establish a comprehensive sequence of events.
