Water thrown on sleeping passengers at Lucknow’s Charbagh railway station has sparked outrage after a video went viral on social media. The incident, which occurred late at night, shows sanitation workers using mugs to throw water on the platform as part of their cleaning routine. Unfortunately, the water drenched sleeping passengers, including women and children, causing discomfort and forcing them to vacate the area.
The viral video, shared by a social media user, shows workers splashing water on the platform in an attempt to clean it. However, the workers inadvertently drenched several passengers who were resting there, disrupting their sleep. The video quickly gained traction, causing widespread condemnation of the workers’ actions. Many social media users expressed their anger, particularly at the workers’ apparent lack of consideration for the sleeping passengers.
The Northern Railway’s Lucknow Division promptly acknowledged the incident, confirming the viral video’s authenticity. The division revealed that the Chief Health Inspectors (CHIs) and sanitation workers involved have been counseled about the inappropriate handling of the situation. The division also advised passengers to avoid sleeping on the platforms and utilize the available waiting halls, dormitories, and retiring rooms, ensuring a safer and more comfortable stay at the station.
Railway officials have also expressed dissatisfaction with the incident, instructing the sanitation agency to provide a detailed explanation of how such an oversight occurred.
