Rajasthan Borewell Rescue: Three-Year-Old Chetna Trapped For 8th Day As Rocky Terrain Delays Operation

The Rajasthan borewell rescue operation to save Chetna, a three-year-old girl trapped in a 700-foot borewell, has reached its eighth day. Despite facing continuous challenges, including rocky terrain and unexpected rain delays, officials are working tirelessly to save the child.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), alongside other disaster management personnel, is inside a tunnel being dug to reach Chetna, who has been stuck at a depth of 150 feet. Although a five-foot tunnel has been dug, the rescue team has not yet managed to reach the borewell. The situation is further complicated by the presence of solid rock, which has slowed the digging process. The operation is being closely monitored by Army jawans and experts to ensure the digging is on track.

Difficult Terrain and Weather Hinder Efforts in Rajasthan Borewell Rescue

The rescue operation is running into difficulties due to the rocky terrain in the area, which has delayed progress. According to the District Collector, Kalpana Agarwal, the rescue team is facing issues caused by the gap in temperatures between the surface and the depth of the tunnel. On top of this, heavy rainfall on Friday halted progress completely, further hampering the operation.

The team has already dug a 170-foot tunnel parallel to the borewell, 10 feet away from it, in an effort to reach the child. An eight-foot L-shaped pipe is also being constructed to secure Chetna, but that too has been a slow process. Experts are on hand to guide the workers, making sure the operations continue safely.

Emotional Plea from Chetna’s Mother Amid Delays in Rajasthan Borewell Rescue

Chetna’s mother, Dhole Devi, is in distress as she waits for her daughter’s rescue. Her health has deteriorated due to the emotional strain, and she has openly criticized the local officials for the delays in the rescue. She has expressed frustration at the slow pace of the operation and urged the authorities to act faster.

The incident occurred on December 23, when Chetna fell into the borewell while playing on her family’s agricultural land. Since then, rescue teams have been working around the clock, but the challenges posed by the terrain and weather have stretched the operation out longer than expected.

As the rescue operation enters its eighth day, all involved are determined to save Chetna, but the situation remains tense. The NDRF officer, Mahaveer Singh, assured the public that the team is making progress and remains close to reaching the child.
