Police: A shocking murder case has rocked Mumbai’s Mira Road area, where a 56-year-old man stands accused of brutally killing his 32-year-old live-in partner and dismembering her body in a disturbing attempt to conceal evidence. The accused, identified as Manoj Sahani, had been residing with Saraswati Vaidya, 32, in flat No. 704, J-Wing of Geeta Akash Deep building in Geeta Nagar Phase 7 for the past three years. According to police reports, the accused murdered his live-in partner approximately three to four days ago before procuring a tree-cutter to sever her body into pieces. He then proceeded to boil the dismembered parts and pack them into plastic bags.  Â
The grim discovery was made when residents of J-Wing in Geeta Aakashdeep Cooperative Housing Society detected a foul odor emanating from flat number 704 on Wednesday, prompting them to alert the police. Upon entering the premises, law enforcement officers were confronted with the gruesome sight of Saraswati Vaidya’s remains scattered throughout the apartment, in an advanced state of decomposition.
Jayant Bajbale, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1), revealed, “We believe that Sahani cut the woman’s body into pieces so as to make it easy for him to dispose of them.” Authorities also suspect that the perpetrator deliberately discarded the missing body parts in an undisclosed location.

The accused, Manoj Sahani, has been apprehended by the police, who are now conducting thorough interrogations as part of their investigation. Initial inquiries have uncovered that Vaidya had been cohabiting with Sahani in the flat for the past three years.
Notably, residents of the building have reported that the couple maintained minimal interaction with their neighbors. The absence of a nameplate on their flat’s door, registered in the name of Sonam Builders, further adds to the mysterious nature of the case.
This chilling incident bears striking resemblance to the tragic murder of Shraddha Walkar, which sent shockwaves across the nation last year. In a chilling parallel, Walkar was strangled by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala, who dismembered her body into 35 pieces and disposed of them in a forest in the national capital over the course of 18 days.
