Is it worth waiting for?
To all the gaming enthusiast out there, are you excited for Google’s most ambitious new gaming service, Stadia? Let the countdown begin! Google Stadia arrives on November 19. Announced at this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Stadia is the most-awaited cloud-based streaming platform that will provide the users with a whole new way to play.
The tech giant’s gaming service is scheduled to launch in 14 countries, including the US, UK and Germany. Unfortunately, India is not among the first wave of countries where Stadia will be available.
Want to know what exactly is Stadia? We’ve got you covered!
The best gaming experience ever
Stadia promises to deliver a never-seen-before experience with a host of AAA-quality games. At the launch, it will be available on desktop, laptop, the Pixel 3, Pixel 3a and Chromecast connected TVs. One thing to keep in mind is that the only way to purchase Stadia within its early launch is to buy Founder’s Edition pack to enable the service.
The Founder Edition includes a night blue controller, a Chromecast Ultra, a free copy of Destiny 2 and a three-month subscription to Stadia Pro. What’s even more interesting is a voucher called ‘Buddy Pass’ that allows the consumers to share the experience with a friend. Stadia Pro service will cost $9.99 (or approx. Rs 691) a month.
A game without console or downloads
You must be wondering how this service enables gaming without needing expensive consoles and computers. The concept is simple; just the way you stream movies and series on Netflix, Stadia will allow you to play anytime, anywhere on-demand. As a cloud-gaming service, the Stadia Controller uses dual-band Wi-Fi to connect to the game running in the data centre for quick response.
The service gives access to a free library of games and lets you stream games up to 4K HDR at 60fps, with HDR support and with 5.1 surround sound. Moreover, there are two buttons for quick access to capture footage and Google Assistant access to trigger mic input. Nowadays, these are the most user-friendly features for gamers.
What is ‘gaming preferred’ prioritization?
An exclusive feature that will make a gamer’s life much easier! Since Stadia requires a fast pathway to and from cloud servers without being delayed by a competing traffic on the same network or an underperforming router.
‘Gaming preferred’ is the ultimate solution! This feature prioritizes Stadia, so that the gameplay does not get slowed down by other networks and devices like someone streaming laptop and browsing the web in the other room. Enabling “Gaming preferred” on your gadget, Nest Wifi (the first-generation Google Wifi) “automatically optimizes your Stadia traffic.” The perks of modern technology, you see!
Suit up, gamers!
Google has confirmed more than 30 game titles that are available during ‘the launch window.’ Stadia will get publisher support from around 20 video game publishers and developers, which includes renowned names like Rockstar Games, Capcom, and Bethesda Softworks.
Google Stadia may have a limited country rollout, but the number of games it offers is commendable. The launch line-up of the popular games that users can enjoy are Destiny 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Get Packed, Mortal Kombat 11, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, and many more.
