The BJP government, which was formed lifting President’s rule by overnight in Maharashtra, had to leave the ground on Constitution Day (26 November) on Tuesday. First NCP’s Ajit Pawar resigned as Deputy CM. After this, Devendra Fadnavis also left the Chief Minister’s chair, saying there was no majority. Talking about 2017, the area with 72% population of the country was ruled by NDA. Now only 41% of its rule is left. In 11 months, the NDA has lost power in 4 big states.


The BJP has been limited to 41% of the population due to power in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. However, Mizoram and Sikkim came under the NDA’s account. Now NDA government is in 17 states. BJP has 13 and CMs of allies in 4. (BJP is with the government in Tamil Nadu, but not a single MLA. So not in the map)

  • The total GDP of Maharashtra is around 30 lakh crores. It accounts for 14% of the country’s GDP.
  • More than 40% of the country’s corporate offices are in Maharashtra. It has a major contribution in the election fund.
  • Maharashtra has the maximum 48 Lok Sabha seats after UP. Therefore Maharashtra was important.
