The political drama of Maharashtra was finally closed today. Devendra Fadnavis resigned as CM 24 hours before the majority test. Two hours before this, Ajit Pawar resigned as deputy CM. This time Fadnavis could remain in the post of CM for just 80 hours. Let us tell you the events from the morning of 24 November till now, which surprised people at every turn.
On 23 November, whoever heard the news was surprised. The news was that Fadnavis was sworn in as CM and Ajit Pawar as deputy CM. A day before this, Sharad Pawar announced that Uddhav Thackeray’s name has been agreed for the post of CM of the coalition government, but the entire plan of the coalition leaders was destroyed. This big decision was taken from Delhi. Early morning it was decided to remove President’s rule from Maharashtra. Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were sworn in at around 8 am. Ajit handed over the letter of support of all the MLAs to the Governor as NCP Legislature Party leader.
Political struggle due to the decision of the Governor
This decision of the Governor created a political battle. Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP directly targeted the central government. The big leaders called it a decision of the central government through the governor. The case reached the Supreme Court. Separately three lawyers from the Congress-Shiv Sena-NCP challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court. The same night a hearing was sought. But the court put the matter up for hearing on Monday. The matter was vigorously debated in court. The decision was reserved till Tuesday.
Fast round of meetings
Meanwhile, meetings and mail meetings intensified in Mumbai. Also started the phase of Ajit Pawar back in his court. Sharad Pawar set out to save his NCP. Big leaders started the process of meeting Ajit Pawar.

Meanwhile, on 25 November, Fadnavis started his work as CM. But there was no movement on behalf of Ajit Pawar. Fadnavis held meetings and also announced a package of crores for farmers. But the deputy CM’s chair kept with him remained empty. This further increased speculation.

In the evening, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut gave a thrill and gave the slogan of Amhi 162. Raut announced that at seven in the evening, 162 MLAs of the alliance will gather together at Hotel Hyatt. He also invited the Governor. For the first time, big leaders of Congress-Shiv Sena-NCP were seen together in this maha baithak. Leaders like Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule, Uddhav Thackeray, Ashok Chavan, Balasaheb Thorat, Sanjay Raut appeared on the stage together. Sharad Pawar lashed out here that Maharashtra should not be considered as Goa and Manipur. Uddhav also showed his anger to the central government and BJP and said that the real strength of Shiv Sena can be seen now.
Fadnavis resigns after 80 hours
On Tuesday, 26 November, the Supreme Court ruled that the Fadnavis government should prove its majority within 24 hours. Time was given till 7 pm on 27 November. This decision was in a way a seal of victory for the coalition. By midday, Ajit Pawar resigned and then at 4 pm Fadnavis also submitted his resignation to the Governor. Fadnavis could remain in the CM post for only 80 hours. During this he held a few meetings and announced a huge relief package for the farmers. While Ajit Pawar could not even sit on the deputy CM’s chair and remained stuck in political confusion.
