Arvind Kejriwal’s BJP gold chains allegations have ignited a political storm ahead of the Delhi Assembly election on February 5. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of distributing gold chains in two Delhi colonies to buy votes, urging voters to reject such practices. Addressing the media, Kejriwal called for ethical voting and warned against falling prey to inducements like money, jackets, and blankets.

Kejriwal’s comments have added fuel to an already heated pre-election atmosphere in the national capital, with both AAP and BJP exchanging sharp barbs over corruption, alliances, and campaign strategies.

Allegations Of Vote Buying

Kejriwal accused BJP leaders of “stooping to dishonesty” and using public money to lure voters. He claimed BJP leaders were distributing gold chains and other items, questioning where funds for these distributions had come from.

“We have evidence that BJP has started distributing gold chains in two colonies. Their leaders are openly saying they will buy votes. The public wants answers about where the saris, blankets, and other items are going,” Kejriwal said.

He further appealed to Delhi voters:

  • Reject any party or candidate distributing money or gifts.
  • Accept items being distributed but vote responsibly without being influenced.
  • Report such incidents to ensure a fair election.

Kejriwal reiterated that AAP stands for integrity and would not tolerate vote-buying, even from within the party.

Sanjay Singh Targets BJP Candidate

AAP MP Sanjay Singh backed Kejriwal’s allegations, urging the Election Commission of India (ECI) to investigate reports of BJP candidate Parvesh Verma distributing spectacles after the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Singh criticized the alleged inaction by local authorities, claiming they were complicit. “Until the DM and SHO are held accountable, no action will be taken against Parvesh Verma. The Election Commission must go beyond accepting biased reports,” Singh said.

BJP’s Response To Kejriwal’s Claims

In a sharp rebuttal, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari accused Kejriwal of breaking his promise not to ally with any political party. Tiwari alleged that AAP’s alliance with Congress exposed Kejriwal’s “corrupt face” and accused him of misleading Delhi voters.

“Arvind Kejriwal had vowed never to join hands with any party, but the world saw him align with Congress. Delhi has recognized his deceit. On February 5, voters will bid him farewell,” Tiwari said.

He promised BJP’s focus on slum redevelopment, better roads, and housing for underprivileged Delhiites, asserting that the party would deliver tangible results if elected.

Kejriwal’s Vision For Delhi

While addressing the media, Kejriwal emphasized that AAP’s mission extends beyond electoral victories. “We are not here to win or lose elections; we are here to change the country,” he said.

He appealed to voters to uphold democratic values and ensure that the election is not swayed by unethical practices. Kejriwal also stressed AAP’s commitment to transparency and ethical governance, distancing his party from any allegations of vote-buying.

Election Commission’s Role Amid Controversy

The Election Commission has been urged to investigate allegations from both sides. AAP’s appeal for stringent action against BJP candidates highlights growing concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.

The Election Commission has the task of ensuring:

  • Strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct.
  • Transparent investigations into allegations of vote-buying.
  • A level playing field for all parties during the election.

Delhi’s Heated Political Landscape

The Delhi Assembly election has become a battleground of ideologies and accusations:

  • AAP’s Strategy: Focused on welfare schemes and governance transparency, AAP has highlighted its achievements in education, healthcare, and public services.
  • BJP’s Counter: BJP has criticized AAP’s governance, alleging corruption and false promises, while positioning itself as a party of development and progress.

The claims and counterclaims reflect the high stakes of the Delhi election, with both parties vying for voter trust in a fiercely competitive environment.

The Arvind Kejriwal BJP gold chains controversy underscores the intensity of the Delhi Assembly election campaign. As allegations fly, the focus remains on voter awareness and the Election Commission’s role in ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
