Ragpicker Kids Kiss ₹500 Notes After Finding Them In Discarded Bag

Ragpicker kids stumbled upon an unusual treasure while picking rags—a bag stuffed with bundles of ₹500 notes. The scene was heartwarming yet ironic as these notes, demonetised since 2016, hold no value today. The kids, unaware of their worthlessness, kissed the bundles and celebrated their ‘rich’ moment with innocent joy, a sight that quickly went viral online.

The Joyful Discovery

The viral video captures the kids’ excitement as they stumbled upon the bag filled with cash. Unfazed by the condition of the notes, they held them tightly and kissed the bundles, experiencing a moment of unexpected happiness. The footage was shared online with the caption, “Trash picker children found many bags full of old demonetized 500 rupees currency notes. RBI should give them chance to deposit and take new currency notes.”

Ragpicker Kids React To The Truth

The content creator filming the children interacted with them, even requesting one note from the bundle. Initially hesitant, the kids eventually handed over the note. The creator then revealed to them that these ₹500 notes were demonetised and carried no monetary value. He explained, “Dekh bhai, paise gaddi par koi value nahi hai (See bro, there’s a bundle of cash, but no value).” Despite learning the truth, the kids continued to enjoy their rare moment, showcasing the innocence of their joy.

Why ₹500 Notes Hold No Value Today?

The demonetisation of ₹500 and ₹1,000 banknotes of the Mahatma Gandhi Series was announced on November 8, 2016, as a measure to curb black money and counterfeit currency. Citizens were allowed to exchange these notes until December 30, 2016. Since the deadline, the notes have become invalid, serving no legal or monetary purpose.

The video serves as a bittersweet reminder of the impact of demonetisation on various sections of society. While the incident might have ended in a fleeting moment of joy for the kids, it highlights a poignant reality of discarded wealth and the enduring innocence of childhood.
