Man Tears Indian Railway Seat Cover For Reel, Sparks Outrage Online

Indian Railway faced fresh criticism after a viral video showed a man tearing a train seat cover and throwing it out of a moving train window to create a social media reel. The act, widely condemned as vandalism, has reignited discussions about the misuse of public property and environmental damage caused by such behaviour.

Man Tears Seat Cover For Social Media Reel

The viral video captured a young man inside an Indian Railway coach tearing a seat cover and tossing it out of the train’s window. Smiling during the act, he appeared to be filming for a reel, sparking outrage across social media platforms. Users have called the act irresponsible and harmful to both public property and the environment.

Shared on platform X by user Mr. Sinha, the clip carried the caption: “The same person will later speak to a YouTuber, blaming the government and complaining about the poor condition of railways.” Indian Railway authorities have not yet commented on the incident.

History Of Passenger Vandalism In Indian Railways

This incident is not the first instance of vandalism in Indian Railways. A similar case occurred earlier at Uttar Pradesh’s Basti railway station, where passengers damaged the Antyodaya Express. Angry over locked coach doors, some passengers shattered the train’s glass windows using stones.

A viral video from the scene showed individuals dismantling window grills and entering the train through the gaps. The chaos reportedly led to a stampede-like situation. Officials cited overcrowding as the root cause. According to The Times of India, passengers already inside the train had locked the coach doors to prevent additional boardings, which angered those waiting outside.

Impact Of Vandalism On Indian Railway

Incidents of vandalism significantly damage public property, compromise passenger safety, and strain resources already limited in the Indian Railway network. Overcrowding, coupled with passenger frustration, often triggers such incidents. Despite efforts to modernize and improve services, vandalism remains a pressing challenge.

Public outrage continues to grow over these acts, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement and penalties to deter such behavior and protect public infrastructure. Indian Railway’s proactive measures and public awareness campaigns will be critical to addressing these recurring issues.
