Joint operations by the Indian Army and the police have led to significant success in Manipur, uncovering weapons, explosives, and dismantling hideouts. These efforts reflect the coordinated efforts between multiple security agencies to ensure regional safety and counter criminal activities.
Indian Army Captured Yield Weapons and Explosives
Indian Army Manipur operations carried out with the Manipur Police and other forces, resulted in the recovery of multiple firearms, ammunition, and explosives across several districts. In a series of intelligence-led operations, officials seized several weapons, including a light machine gun, a 12-bore single-barrel gun, and a 9mm pistol in Imphal East. Along with these weapons, explosives and other war-like stores were also recovered.
The operation on December 27 in Tengnoupal district was particularly successful. A joint team from the Assam Rifles and the Manipur Police unearthed a factory-made .303 rifle, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and grenades. This operation also led to the dismantling of three hideouts overlooking National Highway 102, crucial for disrupting potential illicit activities in the area.
Dismantling Hideouts and Increasing Security in Manipur
Further efforts continued over December 27-28 near Yangiangpokpi, where the Indian Army set up a mobile checkpoint after receiving a tip-off about arms movements. Searches led to the seizure of two double-barrel rifles and a single-barrel rifle, which were later handed over to the Manipur Police.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched another operation in Churachandpur on December 27 near K Lhanghnom Vangkho village. They destroyed an under-construction structure suspected to be used for illegal activities. With intensified patrolling, security measures have been strengthened to prevent any further threats to the region’s stability.
