India reports 540 cases and 17 deaths in 24 hours; total cases rise to 5,734
In the last 24 hours, India has seen an increase of 540 new COVID19 cases and 17 deaths taking total number of positive cases rise to 5734 including 5095 active cases, 473 cured/discharged and 166 deaths said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Delhi reports 426 COVID-19 cases from Markaz Nizamuddin; total cases now 669
Speaking to ANI, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that Till now, there are 669 COVID19 positive cases including 426 cases from Markaz, in Delhi.

He said that rapid testing for COVID19 will be started as soon as the testing kits arrive. “Testing will be first done in the COVID19 hotspots in the city,” he added.
Further addressing the plight of doctors and other healthworkers fighting the battle against coronavirus, Jain said that legal action will be taken against those who discriminate against doctors, paramedics and healthcare workers. He was referring to the incident where two female doctors Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital were allegedly assaulted by their neighbour in Gautam Nagar on Wednesday night.
BMC declares 381 areas as containment zones; total cases in Maharashtra now 1,297
As number of COVID-19 cases increase, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now declared 381 areas as containment zones, to prevent COVID-19 transmission. The total number of positive cases in Maharashtra is now 1,297, said officials.
