The number of corona patients in the country has increased to 28.35 lakh. A record 69 thousand 196 patients tested positive in the last 24 hours. 59 thousand 935 people have recovered and 979 have died. In the last 20 days, 11 lakh 38 thousand 768 new cases have been reported as positive. But it is a matter of relief that 10 lakh 520 patients have recovered during this period.

11.38 lakh cases came in 19 days, but active cases increased by only 1.20 lakh;

Corona Updates;

  • According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 3 crore 26 lakh 61 thousand 252 tests have been done in the country till 19 August. Of these, 9 lakh 18 thousand 470 tests were conducted on 19 August.
  • 18 junior government doctors engaged in the treatment of Corona patients in Kerala have approached the Kerala High Court. They have demanded a direction to the state government to pay their salary. Kochi’s Aluva market in the state was opened to wholesale traders from Thursday. It was closed for 40 days due to the epidemic.
  • A lockdown has been imposed in Siliguri in West Bengal today. In view of increasing cases of infection, it has been decided to lockdown two days a week. 62% of Siliguri is in Darjeeling district while 38% is in Jalpaiguri. So far 3838 cases have been registered in Darjeeling and 2431 cases in Jalpaiguri.

Top five states;


1. Madhya Pradesh

On Wednesday, 976 new cases of infection were reported in the state. The epidemic in the state once again seems to be gaining momentum. Indore has the highest number of  cases at 179. Bhopal stood at number two with 114 new patients. Every day 15 to 20 thousand tests are being done in the state. It is at number 13 on the country in terms of testing. So far, a total of 10 lakh 90 thousand tests have been completed here.

  1. Maharashtra
    The state of Maharashtra reported a record 13 thousand 165 increase in cases in the last 24 hours. 9011 patients have recovered and 346 people have succumbed to the virus. On August 8, there were 12 thousand 822 cases. Pune has overtaken Mumbai in terms of total number of infected cases and new patients. The maximum number of cases came on Wednesday. The total number of infected here has increased to 1.37 lakh. On the other hand, in Mumbai, 1132 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, while the total number of infected persons was 1 lakh 31 thousand 542.
  2. Rajasthan

690 cases of infection were reported here on Thursday. The highest number of positicve cases, at 138, was found in Ajmer. After this, the corona report of 106 patients in Bhilwara, 100 in Alwar, 99 in Jaipur, 82 in Udaipur, 50 in Nagaur, 38 in Bundi, 36 in Jodhpur, 22 in Chittorgarh and Pratapgarh came back positive.

  1. Uttar Pradesh
    The state of Uttar Pradesh has received 5076 new cases in the last 24 hours. It is at number five in the country in both new cases and total cases. So far, there have been 1 lakh 67 thousand 510 cases of Corona. Uttar Pradesh is at the forefront of testing. More than one lakh tests are being done here every day. Till now 40 lakh 80 thousand tests have been done in total.
  2. Bihar
    2884 new cases were seen in last 24 hours and 3838 patients have recovered, while 10 infected people have died. More than one lakh tests are being done daily here. So far 20 lakh 10 thousand tests have been conducted in the state and in this case it is at number six in the country. There are 745 corona-infected people for every 10 lakh population in the state.

The new number of cases in the country do not seem to be slowing down and staying vigilant and responsible has become the need of the hour.
