Bus Accident In Uttarakhand Claims 5 Lives, Leaves 17 Injured

A bus accident in Uttarakhand has left five dead and 17 others injured after a tragic mishap in Pauri Garhwal district on Sunday. The bus, carrying 22 passengers, overturned and plunged 100 meters down a hill while travelling from Pauri to Dahalchori. The steep terrain and sharp turns are believed to have played a role in this devastating accident.

Upon receiving information, Pauri Garhwal district officials, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police teams, rushed to the scene. Commander SDRF Arpan Yadav coordinated the rescue efforts. Locals in the area also joined the rescue operation, pulling injured passengers from the wreckage and assisting emergency teams.

Of the 22 passengers onboard, four were declared dead on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries later during treatment at the hospital. The remaining injured were immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent care. The bodies of the deceased have been taken for post-mortem examinations, and further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Bus accidents in Uttarakhand’s hilly regions are not uncommon due to narrow roads, poor visibility, and vehicle maintenance issues. The incident serves as another grim reminder of the challenges faced by commuters in mountainous terrains. Officials have consistently emphasized the need for better road safety measures and stricter vehicle inspections to prevent such tragedies in the future.

More details about the accident and its aftermath are awaited as authorities continue to probe the circumstances leading to this unfortunate event.
