Blinkit’s 10-Minute Ambulance Service Must Follow Law: Union Minister

Blinkit 10-Minute ambulance service has drawn attention after its launch in Gurugram, with Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasising the need to comply with “the law of the land.” The quick commerce platform introduced this service as a pilot project, ensuring rapid response to emergencies, but Goyal underscored the importance of adhering to legal standards.

“As regards Blinkit with ambulance services or medicines being delivered, my only submission would be that they have to make sure that they meet the law of the land, and whatever other legal requirements should be properly taken care of. No laws of the land should be broken,” Goyal stated while addressing reporters.

What The Blinkit Ambulance Service Offers?

Blinkit’s ambulance service allows users to book ambulances directly from the app during emergencies. Once booked, the ambulance is dispatched and is expected to reach the location within 10 minutes. According to Albinder Dhindsa, Founder and CEO of Blinkit, the ambulances are equipped with essential life-saving tools such as oxygen cylinders, automated external defibrillators, monitors, suction machines, stretchers, and critical emergency medicines.

The service will also have a trained team comprising a paramedic, an assistant, and a driver to ensure swift and reliable assistance during emergencies. Dhindsa mentioned, “Our aim is to provide a reliable and affordable ambulance service that can respond to emergencies swiftly.”

Ensuring Legal Compliance

While the service aims to provide critical support during emergencies, Goyal reiterated that it must comply with all legal frameworks and requirements. He stressed that every aspect of the operation, from dispatching ambulances to the usage of life-saving equipment, must align with existing laws to ensure safety and reliability.

Expansion Plans For Blinkit Ambulance Service

Currently, the service has been launched as a pilot in select areas of Gurugram, with plans to expand it further in phases. Blinkit is positioning the initiative as a public service rather than a profit-driven venture, aiming to make emergency care accessible and affordable.

The service’s innovative approach and the promise of swift assistance have garnered attention, but its long-term success will depend on its adherence to legal standards and operational excellence.
