BJP leaders agree – opposition was not expected, party could not sense the mood of the people

Many BJP leaders admitted that there was an error in gauging the mood of the people on the Citizenship Amendment Act. Party leaders said the protest was not expected. After protests across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had to publicly state that it was a law brought to grant citizenship, not to take citizenship of anyone.

Ever since the bill was passed in the Lok Sabha, violent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act took place across the country, including the Northeast. During this, 21 people lost their lives. This is the biggest protest since Modi took power in 2014.

BJP leaders said – a little opposition from Muslims was expected
BJP leaders told Swarnim Times – We expected some protest, we were shocked to see the protest across the country. We were ready for the sporadic opposition of the Muslim class, but it was not expected that such a huge protest would be held in big cities across the country for two weeks.

Most ministers did not expect such a big protest – Balyan
Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan said- We never thought that such a demonstration would happen. Not me alone, most ministers did not expect this. I think that the political arithmetic that should have been put behind the passage of this bill was not imposed.

BJP, allies start campaign
According to sources, now the BJP government is going to its allies so that they can help to overcome the difficulty faced by the law. One minister said- Now we are working to make up for the loss. The BJP and its allies have started a campaign to inform the people that the law is not discriminatory.

Some forces gave wrong information to the people- Sangh
The Sangh has also started a campaign to remove confusion on the law in backward areas. Senior Sangh leader Manmohan Vaidya said that such a large-scale protest did not happen because people were not well informed about the law. This happened because some forces misinformed people for their own good.

Modi-Shah appealed to the people
Narendra Modi on Wednesday appealed to the people in Lucknow on the Citizenship Amendment Act. He said that the opposition is spreading confusion. People should not commit violence in this confusion and should not harm government property. On the other hand, in an interview to a news agency, Amit Shah said – The Citizenship Amendment Act was not for taking citizenship, that is a law for granting citizenship. Muslims of the country need not fear. The notification of NPR was sent on 31-7-2019. Many states had notified. The fear in the public mind for CAA has been removed, so some people want to raise the fear of NPR.
