These measures will be implemented on December 31, starting at 8 PM and continuing until 2 AM on January 1. Areas such as MG Road, Brigade Road, Koramangala, Church Street, and Indiranagar are expected to draw large crowds, and the restrictions aim to prevent congestion and maintain law and order during the celebrations. The traffic police will deploy additional personnel to handle the crowd and manage any potential disruptions.
Bengaluru Traffic Advisory: Key Restrictions On Roads
The Bengaluru Traffic Advisory includes the complete ban on vehicle movement in several key areas during peak hours. From 8 PM on December 31 to 2 AM on January 1, no vehicles will be allowed on the following roads:
- MG Road: Between Anil Kumble Circle and the Residency Road junction near Mayo Hall
- Brigade Road: From Cauvery Emporium Junction to Opera Junction
- Church Street: From Brigade Road Junction to Museum Road Junction
- Museum Road: From MG Road Junction to Old Madras Bank Road (SBI Circle)
- Rest House Road: From Museum Road Junction to Brigade Road Junction
- Residency Cross Road: Up to the Residency Road Junction near Shankar Nag Theatre
The police have taken steps to ensure that people can still park their vehicles in designated spaces. Some of the areas where parking will be restricted include:
- MG Road: From Anil Kumble Circle to Trinity Circle
- Brigade Road: From Arts & Crafts Junction to Opera Junction
- Church Street: From Brigade Road Junction to St. Mark’s Road Junction
- Rest House Road: Up to Museum Road Junction
- Museum Road: From MG Road Junction to Old Madras Bank Road (SBI Circle)
Alternative parking options will be available at several locations including Shivajinagar BMTC shopping complex (1st floor), U B City, Garuda Mall, and Cubbon Park.
Traffic Restrictions In Koramangala
Koramangala, another area likely to be packed with revelers, will also see several traffic restrictions. From 11 PM to 2 AM, vehicle movement will be restricted in the following sections:
- Between National Games Village and UCO Bank Junction, affecting both sides of the road
- YD Math Road, from Sukhasagar Junction to Microland Junction
Several side roads, including Junction C Road, 4th B Cross Road, Tonic Back Road, and 17th H Main Road, will also be affected by the restrictions.
Parking restrictions in Koramangala include the following areas:
- 80 Feet Road, from UCO Bank Junction to NGV Back Gate Junction on both sides
- Someshwara Temple Road, from Cemetery Cross to Microland Junction
Commuters can use alternative parking spots such as 60 Feet Model Road (left side, from Munireddy Kalyana Mantap to Canara Bank Junction), the BBMP ground opposite Munireddy Kalyan Mantapa, and the BBMP ground near Bethany School.
Indiranagar Parking Restrictions
Indiranagar will also see parking restrictions in place for the New Year’s Eve celebrations. The following roads will be affected:
- Indiranagar 100 Feet Road: From the Old Madras Road Junction to the Dommaluru Flyover Junction, both sides of the road
- Indiranagar 12th Main Road: From 80 Feet Road to Indiranagar Double Road Junction on both sides of the road
The traffic police have urged commuters to follow all parking guidelines and avoid congested areas to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the celebrations.
