Taapsee Pannu is one of the actresses in the industry who has taken every criticism that came her way with a smile on her face. Not only she takes their blame gracefully, but she also gives it back to them happily. The actress has delivered some scintillating performances in hard-hitting movies like Pink, Badla, Naam Shabana, etc. Taapsee also appeared in typical Bollywood masala movies including Judwaa 2, Manmarziyaan, etc.
The actress who is enjoying her success in the new movie “Saand Ki Aankh” along with Bhumi Pednekar, was invited by actress Neha Dhupia on her radio show, #NoFilterNeha. You can listen to the podcast on Jio Saavan.
Taapsee took so many digs at the industry people that people who are not from the industry might feel like she’s saying whatever we have wanted to say for quite a time now. Taapsee was fearless while answering the questions, just like her personality.
When asked about her view on gender inequality in the industry, Taapsee Pannu was very blunt in stating her views. She stated, “Rules are quite unfair, not just in our industry but maybe in every other industry.” She mentioned that we see & notice the difference in our industry is because we live & work here. But the rules are different everywhere. Taapsee feels that everywhere whether it is Bollywood or Hollywood, everyone is struggling with this issue. “And that’s what the fight is for, that’s what the struggle is right now, the whole issue of gender equality is that let’s make the rules equal. I’m not asking for an edge over them, I’m asking for equality,”
Taapsee went onto explain her statement by giving an example of her recent movie “Saand Ki Aankh”. She mentioned that this is the first time that a women-centric movie had released on an occasion of Diwali. She clarified that when a women-centric movie is made, the makers try to pick out the dates in a way that doesn’t clash with a megastar. And festivals are already booked by A-lister actors. But this time, we decided to go ahead with it, and it worked. She feels and wants to believe that movies like Saand ki Aankh that released on Diwali make a difference in the society as well as industry.
To spice it up, Neha asked Taapsee about an actor that she feels wouldn’t have survived until a successful name is on his/her name. Taapsee took no time and replied “Harshvarrdhan Kapoor”. Taapsee went onto explain that if Harsh hadn’t been Anil Kapoor’s son, he wouldn’t have got another shot in the industry.
Taapsee clarified her saying by stating that whatever she has seen of him till now she is not impressed by his acting skills. “Whatever I have seen of him till now, I think it would have been pretty difficult to get a second film after a not so appreciated debut. If I had been in his position, I wouldn’t have got a second film,”
Harshvarrdhan Kapoor debuted with Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s “Mirzyaan” alongside Sayami Kher. The movie did not work at the box office. Harsh’s second movie “Bhavesh Joshi Superhero” directed by Vikram Aditya Motwane scored an average opening at the box office. He is currently working on a biopic based on Abhinav Bindra where he plays the lead role.
Too harsh right. Don’t you think?
Neha Dhupia asked Taapsee to name an industry person who needs a stylist, to which the actress replied by saying “Urvashi Rautela”. She went onto explain that why according to her Urvashi needs a stylist. “I think she has got a great body, I would love to see better clothes and not just the kind that shows only the body”. Urvashi Rautela will be in Anees Bazmee’s “Pagalpanti”. She is opposite Arshad Warsi. The movie released today.
Next, Neha Dhupia asked Taapsee about her equation with Vicky Kaushal & Jacqueline Fernandez. Taapsee went onto say that they are the “worst co-actors”. Wait. She explained her point, “She (Jacky) has so freaking hot body because I was struggling to match up to her in Judwaa 2. I was just like I just hope that I don’t put myself to shame,” and added, “I am always so conscious that I should not lose out to him (Vicky) in a scene because he is just so good.”
Taapsee also set the record straight when asked about her feud with Kangana Ranaut & sister Rangoli. She said that both of them love her so much that they give all their time & attention to her. Note the sarcasm. Taapsee cleared she doesn’t feel the same way. She said that she doesn’t want to waste her time & attention over someone who means nothing to her.
Taapsee Pannu is the real OG #nofilter celebrity till now. The fierce actress also shared some personal deets about a rumoured boyfriend, Mathias Boe. According to her, there is so much already said and written about it, and it is enough to take over her professional life. She wants recognition for her movies & acting not for her personal life.
Though she is open to the idea of marriage, Taapsee confessed that she would only get married when she decides to have babies as she doesn’t want to have kids out of wedlock.
Taapsee Pannu is enjoying her success in the recently released movie “Saand Ki Aankh” with Bhumi Pednekar. She will be in Anubhav Sinha’s “Thappad” and Akarsh Khurana’s “Rashmi Rocket”. It is a sports drama flick set to release on 1st January 2020.
