Renukaswamy Case: Darshan Thoogudeepa Seeks Bail from Karnataka High Court, Requests Emergency Hearing

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has once again found himself embroiled in a high-profile legal battle following his involvement in the murder case of Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga. Darshan’s previous bail plea, along with co-accused actress Pavithra Gowda’s, was rejected by the Bangalore Sessions Court on October 14, 2024. Undeterred, the actor has now moved to the Karnataka High Court, filing a fresh bail petition and challenging the rejection of his earlier plea. He has also requested an emergency hearing for the matter.

According to reports by Times Now, Darshan’s new petition, submitted to the Karnataka High Court, emphasizes the need for urgent consideration of his bail. Pavithra Gowda, who is also implicated in the case, has similarly approached the court with her own bail request. The High Court is expected to take up both petitions by October 22, 2024.

The case revolves around the tragic murder of Renukaswamy, a devoted fan of Darshan. According to the allegations, the conflict began when Renukaswamy reportedly sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, who is rumored to have been in a relationship with Darshan. Enraged by this, Darshan is accused of orchestrating the kidnapping of Renukaswamy and subjecting him to severe torture.

Renukaswamy was allegedly abducted and held in a shed, where Darshan and his accomplices brutally assaulted him. Reports indicate that the victim was tortured with physical violence, including electric shocks, until he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The level of brutality in this case shocked many, as the post-mortem report revealed that Renukaswamy’s body bore numerous signs of severe abuse. His ear was missing, his testicles were ruptured, and he had countless wounds and bruises all over his body.

The gruesome incident came to light when Renukaswamy’s body was discovered by local authorities on June 9, 2024, near a stormwater drain in the Sumanahalli area of Bangalore. The discovery sent shockwaves through the community, and Renukaswamy’s grieving family has since been fighting for justice.

Despite the horrific circumstances of Renukaswamy’s death, a glimmer of hope has emerged for his family. His wife, Sahana, who was five months pregnant at the time of her husband’s murder, gave birth to a healthy baby boy on October 16, 2024. The arrival of their son has provided some solace to the grieving family, offering them a new sense of hope amidst the tragedy.

As the legal battle continues, all eyes are now on the Karnataka High Court to see if Darshan and Pavithra’s bail pleas will be granted. The outcome of the emergency hearing will be critical for both the accused and the victim’s family, who are determined to see justice served for the murder of Renukaswamy.
