As the year 2019 comes to an end, it’s interesting to look at the new talent that the Bollywood fraternity and audience will be seeing in the coming year. The list of the Bollywood debut consists of some of the star kids as well as some of the outsiders who have managed to attract the attention of the filmmaker and got themselves a role in the upcoming movies.
We have picked out the top 7 debuts we’re excited to see in 2020
1. Alaia F:
Alaia Furniturewala (Aalia Ebrahim) is a daughter of Bollywood actress Pooja Bedi and Farhan Furniturewala. She came into the limelight when she participated in a beauty contest with her mother in a reality TV show called Maa Exchange. The 22-year-old model turned actress will be sharing the screen space with Nawab of Bollywood; Saif Ali Khan along with Tabu for her debut movie. The movie is ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’. The actress is a classical dancer to getting her trait from grandmother Late Protima Bedi.
“Jawaani Jaaneman” directed by Nitin Kakkar and revolves around a plot of the modern father-daughter duo. The movie is a comic take on how a man confronts the harsh realities of his life with his daughter. The poster of the movie was recently launched. The movie also stars Tabu that also marks Tabu and Saif’s on-screen reunion after two decades.
If rumours are believed, Alaia has already signed a three-film deal with producer Jay Shewakramini of Northern Lights Films. Alaia looks absolutely gorgeous, and we’d love to see her on-screen, especially with Saif Ali Khan as her father.
2. Shalini Pandey
The actress who swoon everyone with her cracking performance in her first film in the Telugu romantic drama Arjun Reddy opposite Vijay Devarankonda. The actress started her career as a theatre artist in Jabalpur headed towards the Telugu cinema is now all set to step into the Bollywood industry in 2020. Shalini has bagged the lead role opposite Ranveer Singh in Yash Raj Films titled, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’.
The 25-year-old actress who feels thrilled about sharing screen space with Ranveer Singh mentioned that she’s very fortunate that she’s being cast opposite to one of the finest actors in the industry. Shalini also mentioned that her casting opposite Ranveer Singh inspires her to prepare herself thoroughly to deliver the best as Ranveer is one of the most versatile actors.
During the interview when Shalini was asked about how does she feel about getting to debut with YRF, she stated, “Being allowed to sign on as a talent and also being cast under the Yash Raj Films banner is truly any artiste’s dream. I’ve been blessed with this huge chance to show my mettle in the Hindi film industry, and I’m incredibly thankful for it,”
3. Ahan Shetty
Suniel Shetty’s son Ahan Shetty is also ready to step into the world of Bollywood after sister Athiya Shetty. Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala has confirmed that Ahan will debut in Bollywood with his movie, which is a remake of Telugu, hit RX 100. Ahan Shetty is spotted at several events with family or with sister Athiya Shetty. The actor is dating Tania Shroff who studies in England. The two have always shared their lovey-dovey pictures on Instagram.
The 22-year-old actor has the same hairstyle and facial features, including the chiselled jawlines just like his father. Director Milan Luthria will direct the movie, and it will star Tara Sutaria as the opposite lead. Rajat Arora has written the remake version of RX 100 according to the Bollywood and has zeroed down locations across Mussoorie, Dehradun, and Hrishikesh for the shoot.
The film is a romantic drama filled with nail-biting action sequences for Ahan. The actor has been working hard and training for months to prepare for the role. He is training under Stefan Richter who has worked in films such as Kick and Dishoom. The movie is titled as ‘Tadap’ but, the release date of the movie hasn’t been decided.
Interestingly, Sajid Nadiadwala was the one who launched Suniel Shetty into the Bollywood industry, and now after so many years, he is all set to launch Ahan Shetty.
4. Isabelle Kaif
Katrina Kaif’s sister Isabelle Kaif is one of the actors that is ready to meet you in 2020 on the big screen alongside Ayush Sharma. Titled ‘Kwatha’ directed by Karan Lalit Butanu and revolves around the adventures of true incidences of the Indian Army.
Confirming the project Bhutani said, “We are excited to announce Aayush Sharma and Isabelle Kaif as the leads of Kwatha. Kwatha is a village on the border of India and Mynamar. While it is based on true events, the plot is unconventional, which made actors like Aayush and Isabelle perfect for a film like this.”
Aayush who debuted in 2018’s Loveyatri is going under extensive training and preparation for the role of an Indian Army Officer whereas Isabelle has been training for four years at the New York-based acting school. With oomph at her command, Isabelle also has the charm of a nymphet.
Isabelle was earlier seen in the Canadian rom-com, Dr. Cabbie which was produced by Salman Khan. The movies starred Kunal Nayyar (Raj from The Big Bang Theory) and Vinay Virmani in the pivotal roles. Isabelle looks up to her sister and says that she serves as an inspiration to many.
5. Manushi Chhillar
Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar has been roped for a Bollywood movie opposite Akshay Kumar. The movie titled, ‘Prithviraj’ is being made under the Yash Raj Film Banner and the beauty queen will essay the role of Prithviraj’s love interest Sanyogita.
Talking about her role, Manushi said, “It is a huge responsibility to play princess Sanyogita. She was a powerful personality and she stood up for what is right and took the most important decisions of her life by herself. Her life is an extremely important chapter in Indian history and I will try my best to play her as accurately as possible.”
The movie is an aperiodic drama directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi who is popular for his TV shows like Chanakya and movie Pinjar. When asked about how did Manushi’s name came up, the director explained that they were auditioning various other females for the role. Sanyogita was an incredibly beautiful person and was a very strong, confident human. So, Manushi’s magnetic persona matched with what the team was looking out for and that’s how the beauty queen landed herself a role in Akshay Kumar starrer.
Miss World 2017 has been training extensively taking acting and dance workshops. She has been reading about the time zone in which the movie is set in. The diva has already started shooting for the movie and shared via her social media that she gave her first-ever shot for her debut movie on the same day she was crowned Miss World 2017. Manushi is very thankful and shared that she will have to work twice harder to prove herself as an actor and she’s ready for that.
6. Krystal D’ Souza
The sultry television actress who debuted on TV with her show Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Bhena Hai has bagged a role in Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi starrer “Chehre” as her Bollywood debut.
Kriti Kharbanda who was the first choice for the role and had shot the first set of the movie had to opt-out from the movie due to date and management issues. Her walking off worked well for the TV actress as she got the role which is a great stepping success in her career graph. Asking about how she feels about her first movie with Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, the actress mentioned, ‘I’d always wanted to do films. And there couldn’t have been a better opportunity to share the screen with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan.’
The movie is directed by Rummy Jaffery and produced by Anand Pandit. The movie also stars actors including Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor, Drithiman Chakroborthy, Raghubir Yadav and Annu Kapoor. Krystal is one of the most glamorous actresses in the television sector who was recently seen on ALT Balaji’s show ‘Fitrat’ alongside Aditya Seal. The actress is a close friend of the tv soap queen Ekta Kapoor and had mentioned that she’d like to take Ekta’s blessing for the future.
Krystal revealed that she has started to shoot and has shot a few scenes with Emraan and shares a good rapport with the co-star. She attests that the script and her role are two major criteria for her before taking up anything and that’s what made her fall in love with Chehre.
7. Lakshya Lalwani
Just like Krystal D’Souza, Lakshya Lalwani also belongs to the TV industry. He has been selected for a role in the much-awaited movie of 2020; ‘Dostana 2’ alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan. The actor has a four-film contract with Dharma Productions head by Karan Johar.
Even though Karan Johar is the flag bearer of nepotism but for Lakshay, he made it clear that Lakshya went through the rigorous shortlisting process including auditions and photoshoots after which he was selected as the second lead of the movie.
Dostana 2 is the second instalment of the movie Dostana which starred Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, and Priyanka Chopra. Lakshay was formerly known as Laksh Lalwani and had appeared on MTV Roadies X2 after which he got selected for the MTV’s Warrior High. Later he went onto being a part of TV shows including Adhuri Kahaani Hamari, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil and Porus, which is reportedly the most expensive television show in Indian history.
Dostana 2 is directed by first-timer Collin D’Cunha and produced by Karan Johar. The actor revealed the good news on his social media and captioned it by saying ‘Overwhelmed, grateful & downright Excited for the new beginning!’ The actor loves to show off his chiselled muscles and often posts pictures of his ripped body.
With every new year, new debutants try to make their every lasting impression on the audience, but only a few reach up to that point. Can these debutants achieve what they are stepping into the industry for?
