Ajay Devgan has introduced the characters of the police officer in different ways in his career. His police style in ‘Gangajal’ in 2003 and ‘Singham’ in 2011 have been well liked by the people. Singham’s character got so much love that it was made a franchise. In a special conversation with Swarnim Times, Ajay himself made a difference between his two characters and the rest of the police characters in the industry.

Pointing out the difference between his character Singham and the Salman Khan starrer film ‘Dabangg’ in character ‘Chulbul Pandey’, Ajay says – “Singham has changed the perception of police characters in the minds of people. He is not a Robinhood cop but is a strong character While Chulbul Pandey has a higher entertainment value. Audience likes cop characters more which entertain them. Pandey is fit in this scnario. Amit, the police officer of ‘Gangajal’ is not entertaining at all because he is too straight forward. Such films will also go on, people will praise Amit but they will not want to be like Amit. It is a big difference in these three characters. Singham gives a feeling of strong character while Chulbul entertains them a lot. ‘

React according to the characters: Ajay said about how to approach his characters, ‘I do not use approach my characters long ago but now I have started doing it. My method is so simple that I start thinking according to the character. According to how he would react in particular situation, I keep acting and reacting on the set. For example, in ‘Zakhm’ I told Bhatt sahib to let me react in front of the camera according to my character. If pain is seen on the character’s face, then its good or else bad luck. Incidentally, he got his green signal and then people also liked both the film and the character. If Singham is also caught in a particular situation, how will he react at that time, I just keep thinking. That is my way of finding my character. I stop wondering how Ajay Devgan will react while playing the character. With the same approach, I also did negative rolls of ‘Khaki’ and ‘Deewangi’.
