CCTV footage has surfaced of a firing incident at a businessman’s residence in Delhi, carried out by members of the Bambiha Gang, rivals of the jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The footage shows two men on a motorcycle stopping outside the businessman’s home. One is seen throwing a note inside the residence, which read “Bambiha Gang.” Immediately after, the men fired eight shots at the property before the footage ended.
According to officials, the shooter filmed the attack, and the footage was later sent to the United States. The incident occurred on October 26 around 8:40 p.m. in Rani Bagh, North West Delhi. Police identified the shooters as Bilal Ansari (22) and Shuheb (21), who attacked to extort Rs 15 crores from the businessman.
On the night of October 28, the Delhi police’s Special Cell received a tip-off that the shooters would be in the Kakrola area to meet their associates. The police acted on this information and organized a stakeout near the Kakrola drainage road towards Najafgarh around 2:15 a.m.
When the suspects arrived on a bike, the police signalled them to stop. Instead of complying, the duo attempted a U-turn but slipped and fell from their motorcycle. As the police moved in to surround them, one of the shooters pulled out a pistol and fired at the officers. In response, the police fired back in self-defence, injuring one of the suspects in the leg.
Both shooters were arrested, and police recovered a semi-automatic pistol, a single-shot firearm, and six live cartridges from their possession. Authorities are investigating further connections and any involvement of overseas associates related to this incident. The Delhi police‘s prompt capture of the accused underscores their commitment to curbing gang-related activities in the city.
The recent attack carried out by the Bambiha Gang once again raises questions about the state of law and order in India. The gangsters have recently gained popularity, which boosted them to carry out these attacks openly without fearing the law. Baba Siddique‘s murder or this attack carried out on the businessman, or any other attack, all together point fingers towards how India has slowly become a lawless state. Apart from the laws, unemployment is also a significant question, especially with minors becoming a part of gangs and carrying out attacks. The solutions to tackle the rising gangster culture remain a question.
