Agra Woman Clubbed To Death By Husband And Son Over House Dispute

In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district, a 50-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and younger son after she refused to sell their house. The victim, identified as Rama Devi, had been living in a rented house for the past four months due to ongoing disputes with her family over the property.

According to the police, Rama Devi had been under constant pressure from her husband, 56-year-old Dadhich Goswami, and younger son, 25-year-old Manoj, to sell the 250-square-foot house registered in her name in Shyam Vihar Colony. The dispute had been escalating for over two years, leading to frequent arguments and clashes.

On Sunday evening, Rama Devi returned to her home to collect her belongings. During her visit, a heated argument broke out when her husband and son once again insisted on selling the house. “During the argument, Dadhich picked up an iron rod and started beating her,” said Manju, the wife of Rama Devi’s elder son, Kaushal, who is 28.

“She (Devi) ran out of the house to save herself, but the husband and son chased her outside and continued beating her,” Manju told the police. Onlookers reportedly did not intervene. Rama Devi was eventually rushed to a hospital by her elder son, but she succumbed to her injuries two hours after admission.

The victim’s son-in-law, Rajendra Kumar, who lodged an FIR at the Etmaddulah police station, revealed that the family had recently sold agricultural land in Mathura. Dadhich was allegedly pressuring Rama Devi to sell the house to generate additional funds.

“The father and son fled after learning of Rama Devi’s death. We are conducting raids to locate them and hope to arrest them soon,” said Rajendra Kumar Tyagi, the Station House Officer at Etmaddulah police station.

This horrific incident has shocked the local community, with many questioning the lack of intervention by bystanders during the assault. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
