Techie Arrested After Speeding SUV Injures Four In Multi-Vehicle Crash On Pune-Mumbai Highway

Four individuals sustained injuries when an SUV crashed into three vehicles at a traffic signal on the Pune-Mumbai Highway in Chinchwad on Sunday afternoon. The driver, identified as 25-year-old IT professional Divya Shrivastava, has been arrested for rash driving.

The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. at Mahavir Chowk, when Shrivastava, driving a Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, lost control and collided with a car and a motorcycle, causing the car to subsequently hit another bike. According to officials, vehicles had come to a stop at the signal when Shrivastava failed to control his vehicle, resulting in a chain reaction that left four people seriously injured.

An officer from the Pimpri police station stated, “Probe suggests that some vehicles had halted at the signal at Mahavir Chowk. Shrivastava could not control the vehicle and rammed into a car and a bike. The car it hit rammed into another bike. Four persons on two bikes fell down and sustained serious injuries. The driver of the SUV took the injured persons to nearby hospitals in rickshaws. All four injured are currently being treated.”

The injured have been identified as Satish Dhanaji Jadhav (50) and his wife Nalini (47), both residents of Kasarwadi, as well as Neeta Girish Farande (46) and Rutuja Dnyaneshwar Pawar (27), both from Sant Tukaram Nagar.

“After the accident, Shrivastava was placed under arrest. He has been charged with rash driving and causing injuries,” added the officer. The authorities have initiated further investigations into the incident, while the injured continue to receive medical treatment at nearby hospitals.
