IIFA 2024: Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji Triumph as ‘Animal’ Sweeps the Awards

The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) 2024 concluded with a grand ceremony in Abu Dhabi, drawing together the brightest stars from the Hindi film industry. Celebrities such as Hema Malini, Rekha, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon graced the event, making it a night to remember.

On the second day of the IIFA 2024, Shah Rukh Khan captivated the audience with his charismatic hosting. He was joined on stage by co-hosts Vicky Kaushal and Karan Johar, and together, they danced to Shah Rukh’s hit song “Jhoome Jo Pathaan,” much to the delight of the attendees. The night’s highlight was undoubtedly the announcement of the winners, where excellence in various categories was celebrated.

Shah Rukh Khan, upon receiving the Best Actor award for his performance in *Jawan*, expressed his gratitude and humility. He said, “I want to thank all the other nominees — Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Vikrant Massey — he was great in the film — Vicky Kaushal, Sunny Paji. I think all of them were great, but I got an edge because people were happy that I worked after so long.”

He also humorously acknowledged his wife, Gauri Khan, adding, “Somebody reminded me that money needs to be put into a film. So I want to thank Gauri. She may be the only wife who’s spending more on the husband than the other way round. We were going through a tough time while making ‘Jawan’ (referring to the Aryan Khan case).”

The three-day IIFA celebration kicked off on September 27 with IIFA Utsavam, an event dedicated to the southern film industries — Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. This was a night to honor and celebrate the diversity and richness of Indian cinema beyond Bollywood.

The second day saw a star-studded turnout with the presence of Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Rekha, Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal among others. IIFA 2024 is set to conclude on September 29 with the exclusive, invitation-only IIFA Rocks event.
