The police have arrested both the accused through CCTV footage. The Lodhi Colony police produced the two in court on Thursday evening and took the Commandant on remand for a day. Neeraj Chauhan has been sent to judicial custody.
South District DCP Atul Kumar Thakur said that the CISF DIG was informed on Wednesday evening that the drugs were stored in the park I-20 car at Electronic Niketan, CGO Complex.
Clue found from CCTV footageÂ
CISF staff called the vehicle owner and searched the car and found 550 grams of charas in it. The car belonged to Amit Sawan, husband of Rajasthan cadre IAS officer. Amit Sawan is a Consultant (Private) in the Union Ministry of Information Technology and lives in Electronic Niketan.
Lodhi Colony police was informed about it at around 6 pm on Wednesday. The Lodhi Colony police investigated the number from which the CISF DIG had received a call for the charas. The phone belong to a resident of Mehrauli and a seller of pakoras.
When the police caught him and inquired, they came to know that when he was in Katwaria Sarai, a person took his mobile and called CISF DIG. After this, the police searched the CCTV footage of Electronic Niketan and two persons were seen walking in suspicious condition.
This is how he fall in love with the woman 20 years ago
After tracing the CCTV footage, the police arrested Saket resident Commandant Ranjan Pratap Singh and his lawyer partner Neeraj Chauhan. Both of them admitted to keeping charas in the IAS husband’s car.
The accused said that he wanted to take revenge on the woman IAS. Ranjan Pratap Singh met the women IAS 20 years ago when both were preparing for civil services. In 2000, both of them also did a four-month foundation course at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Uttarakhand.
Since then Ranjan Pratap has loved the woman IAS one-way in his heart. This was the reason he was not happy after the woman got married to someone else.
However, even after marriage, he was in constant contact with her. Police sources say that the woman IAS was not picking up the phone of the accused for a few days. The accused was angered by this.
This is the reason why he thought of revenge and conspired to keep drugs in her car. The accused had gone to keep the charas with their SX4 car. Police have recovered this car from Bhishma Pitamah Marg.
