Man: Nagpur (Rural) superintendent of police, Vishal Anand, revealed that a shocking turn of events led to the arrest of 35-year-old Priya Sontakke on charges of orchestrating her father’s murder. According to police reports, Priya allegedly hired contract killers to eliminate her father, Dilip Rajeshwar Sontakke (60), after he subjected her mother to physical abuse due to her objections regarding his extramarital affair. The incident occurred at their petrol pump in Bhiwapur, located on the Nagpur-Nagbhid highway, on May 17. Nagpur (Rural) police wasted no time in apprehending the three assailants responsible for the murder shortly after the incident took place. Sheikh Afroz, alias Imran Hanif, Mohammad Wasim Lal Mohammad, and Zubair Khan were swiftly captured, and during questioning, they implicated Priya in the heinous act. Superintendent of police Vishal Anand confirmed Priya’s alleged confession and stated that she was presented before a local court on Wednesday, subsequently being remanded in police custody for two days.

On the day of the murder, Dilip Sontakke was present at the petrol station, approximately 75 km from Nagpur city, counting money alongside his employee Rajeshwar Nanhe. It was then that the three masked assailants stormed the premises, launching a brutal attack on Dilip and Rajeshwar Nanhe, who valiantly tried to protect his employer. Tragically, Dilip Sontakke sustained 15 stab wounds during the assault, which ultimately claimed his life. The attackers also managed to loot a sum of ₹1.34 lakh in cash from the station before fleeing the scene.

According to police investigations, Priya harbored a deep-rooted resentment towards her father due to his consistent mistreatment of her mother and the rest of the family, stemming from his illicit relationship with another woman in Nagpur. The situation initially involved verbal and emotional abuse towards his wife, but escalated to physical violence when she confronted him about his extramarital affair. Police authorities discovered that Priya’s decision to hire contract killers may have been triggered by a particularly violent incident on May 2, when her father brutally assaulted both Priya and her mother. Seeking a solution to the ongoing abuse, Priya sought the assistance of Sheikh Afroz Sheikh Hanif, a 33-year-old resident of Bada Tajbagh in Nagpur. Interestingly, despite their foreign registration, these companies were found to be linked to Indian bank accounts held in the names of proxy individuals who had no actual connection to the gaming activities. The funds collected from the public through these gaming websites were then channeled through multiple bank accounts and sent out of India by misrepresenting the purpose of the remittances. Such activities are in violation of the provisions outlined in the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) of 1999.

The individuals behind these operations had resorted to creating numerous companies in the names of their employees, using PAN cards, Aadhaar cards, and mobile phones associated with these entities of man. They also employed international virtual mobile numbers and pseudonyms to conceal their identities while communicating through messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal. To further distance themselves from scrutiny, they utilized remote-based servers and laptops accessed via remote access apps like Anydesk and Team Viewer of the man.

The ED’s operations have uncovered the magnitude of the financial irregularities and the extent to which these online gaming companies had exploited unsuspecting individuals. Thousands of crores of rupees were collected from the public through gaming websites, with the proceeds being funneled through dummy firms and eventually sent abroad. The seizure of significant amounts of cash, foreign currency, and multiple bank accounts associated with these activities highlights the enormity of the operation and the need for a thorough investigation into the individuals involved like the man who is involved.
