The head of the Mastercard NFT division, Satvik Sethi, made the decision to resign after criticizing the company’s flaws.

In a series of tweets, Sethi gave an explanation for his decision to leave the company, admitting that it “wasn’t easy,” but that he had long felt ignored by it and wanted to focus exclusively on Web3 and creating art.

Sethi has decided to resign as an NFT from the multinational payments company.

He decided to print his letter of resignation as an open-edition NFT using the Manifold digital collectibles protocol, stating that all of the proceeds “go to survival.”

The cost of the “New Beginnings” project is 0.023 ETH or about $38 per unit. Twelve NFTs were in circulation as of the moment of writing.

Sethi claimed that he was ignored by the company and that he had to grovel for his pay.

I experienced harassment and emotional distress while working for Mastercard as a result of several poorly run processes, misunderstandings, and internal inefficiencies.

“Among other things, there were times when I would go across the hierarchy and beg for my salary for months at a time,” he wrote, noting that the process of his resignation was challenging and protracted.

A Mastercard spokesperson who asked to remain anonymous said in an email that “we treat every one of our employees with decency and respect.”

“We take these issues seriously, and we’re looking into Mr. Sethi’s concerns. We’ll do this while keeping his privacy in mind.
