Rajasthan Government’s social media influencers initiative is a groundbreaking policy aimed at promoting public welfare schemes by leveraging the influence of social media personalities. Launched by the Information and Public Relations Department, this policy offers influencers monthly payments based on their follower base.
Influencers with more than one lakh followers fall into Category A, receiving ₹25,000 per month, while those with a follower count between 7,000 and one lakh are classified under Category B, earning ₹15,000 monthly. To ensure a wide reach, the policy selects influencers at both district and divisional levels, with one influencer per category at the district level and three influencers across two categories at the divisional level.
The selected influencers will work under the guidance of the District Information and Public Relations Office, which will also mentor them in essential skills like content creation, video-audio editing, SEO, social media management, and branding. These influencers are required to upload one post daily on at least two platforms, such as Facebook, X, Instagram, or YouTube, focusing on the government’s welfare schemes and initiatives.
This policy builds upon a similar scheme introduced by the previous Ashok Gehlot government. The earlier initiative categorized influencers into four groups based on their follower count and provided government advertisements worth up to ₹5 lakhs instead of monthly payments. However, the current policy is more structured and aims for sustained engagement with influencers to create impactful campaigns. By fostering such collaborations, the Rajasthan government underscores the growing significance of social media in reaching the masses and amplifying the impact of public welfare programs.
