Central Railway transports 189 tonnes of medical items during lockdown

Central Railway ensures seamless transportation of medical items on priority during the nationwide lock down. 100 time-tabled parcel trains have already run and 110 trains are scheduled. From these parcel trains more than 1900 tonnes of essential goods transported from Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Solapur and Bhusaval divisions of Central Railway including 189 tonnes of essential medicines and other medical equipment during the lockdown. It also includes 545 tonnes of essential items incoming.

Central Railway continues to deliver medicines, masks, hospital items and other medical commodities through its time-tabled parcel services to strengthen Government’s efforts in managing the challenges and adverse impact of corona virus in the country.

Central Railway is touching human lives during the hour of crisis. Recently, 4-year-old boy from Belgaum under special treatment needed the homeopathic medicine from Pune which was handed over to the relatives through Goods Guard of train headed towards Belgaum. In another incident thinking out of way, the parcel department of Nagpur Division ensured that the medicine was reached properly by a needy person at Ludhiana when resorted for help on social media platform.
