Bhim Army activists also participated in this. Thousands of people shouted slogans against the government. However, there was no violence during protest. Police were ready in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi in view of the possibility of violence. 10–10 volunteers were stationed outside each mosque.

Many BJP leaders admitted that there was an error in gauging the mood of the people on the Citizenship Amendment Act. Party leaders said the protest was not expected. After protests across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had to publicly state that it was a law brought to grant citizenship, not to take citizenship of anyone.
