Infosys hired PwC to investigate Whistle-blower Complaints

Bengaluru-based IT company, Infosys has hired PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) which is one of the most prominent auditing firm and part of Big 4 to look after the alleged financial discrepancies and malpractices allegations made by the Whistleblowers. The company has already hired Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM), Tier-1 law firm to look after the legal side of the complaint of the Whistleblowers. Additionally, companies’ internal auditor Ernest & Young (Big 4) will also review its revenue recognition practices. The decision to take PwC on board was to have an investigation which will be independent of SAM and E&Y so that the companies has a fresh set of people who can look into the matter.

The Reserve Bank of India has the monopoly to print notes in India. The Reserve Bank of India prints all notes except one rupee notes across the country. The Ministry of Finance has the right to print one rupee notes and make all types of coins. While it is to be noted, the Reserve Bank of India only has the right to supply currency (both notes and coins) throughout the country.

It has been ten years after the death of a Pune-based RTI activist Satish Shetty in 2009. Shetty was fighting for seeking information through RTI on an ongoing road project in Maharashtra. The case has reached the Supreme Court and achieved a significant point, posted to be heard on November 07. The judge presiding over the matter, Justice B.R. Gavai, recused himself from the case and the hearing was postponed to the second week of December.

RBI tells Supreme Court: WhatsApp cannot do Payment Business

RBI has told Supreme Court that WhatsApp cannot start their payment business in India. This came as a result of WhatsApp non-compliance with the data localization norm. At present, they are battling the Israeli Spygate (Pegasus) controversy in India. RBI stated that WhatsApp which is owned by Facebook is not following the data localization norm and it has asked National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to not launch the WhatsApp payments on Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
