Politicians arrested in J&K shifted to Srinagar; ‘humiliated’ and ‘manhandled’, says Iltija Mufti

Amidst a lot that happened in the country after the historic August 05 decision of the Centre, it was reported that the political prisoner of Kashmir was transferred to the MLA hotel in Srinagar. They were previously located in the Centaur hotel, on the banks of Dal Lake. The news only surfaced on November 17, 2019. The daughter of the PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti, Iltija alleged that the detainees were ‘manhandles’ and ‘humiliated’ as per a report of The Wire. Iltija has been operating the twitter account of her mother Mehbooba Mufti since her mother was detained and put in house arrest.

‘Questionable’ and ‘Unfair Conduct’ cites Bharti Airtel, withdraws bid for RCom assets.  

Bharti Airtel, one of the biggest telecom operators, has withdrawn his bid to purchase the assets of Reliance Communications. They alleged the act of the Committee of Creditors as biased and Unfair, i.e., their act of extending the time limit of submitting the bid. CoC extended the time limit by ten days for submitting the bid on the request made by Reliance Jio.  Harjeet Kohli, who is the finance director of Bharti Airtel wrote a letter to the resolution professional and without naming Reliance Jio said that the committee of creditors rejected their request to extend the time for submitting the bid for Reliance communication. Still, surprisingly the dates have now been extended to accommodate a bidder.

Will Government come to rescue of Vodafone Idea to pay an estimate of Rs. 44,000 crores to the lenders?

After the Supreme Court judgement which widened the definition of Adjusted Gross Revenue, Vodafone Idea has to pay an approximate amount of Rs 40,000 crores to the government. This amount includes spectrum usage charges, past license fees and interest and penalties on the due amount. This amount came as an extra burden to the telecom company which was already under a debt of Rs 1.02 crore by September end this year.  The top managers of Vodafone Idea have informed their lenders that if the government does not provide them an urgent relief on the amount of debt, they will not be able to make a timely repayment to the lenders. Apart from expecting support from the government, Vodafone Idea Managing director has said that, the telecom company is looking forward to sell their data centers and optic fiber network for raising funds.

An Insight to the Jaypee Infratech Insolvency Process

Jaypee Infratech in the year 2017 went into the Insolvency Process after their lenders, i.e., an IDBI Bank-led consortium moved to NCLT against the debt-ridden corporate debtor.
